Are banks doomed to become the back end of financial services? Despite the profusion of upstarts acquiring banking licences, do the FinTechs and Tech Titans really want to become banks? Most challenger banks will fail - the only ones that will succeed are those that are fully licensed themselves and have built their own tech stack from scratch as this means they can compete on cost and there aren't middlemen taking margin
