Matthias Kröner is the co-founder and CEO of FIDOR Bank AG, the neobank with the unique positioning of ‘Banking with Friends’ launched in Germany, the UK, soon in France and most recently acquired by the group BPCE. Fidor Bank reflects Matthias Kröner’s vision of digital and social banking whereby customers become active advisors on community forums, they help co-create products and get rewarded for their contribution. With its unique positioning and successful achievements, the bank was awarded the title of Model Bank by Celent in 2015 and global growth company by the WEF in 2015.
Prior to founding Fidor Bank, Matthias co-developed the first continental European online broker known as DAB Bank. In 1997 he was recognised as the youngest CEO of Direkt Anlage Bank AG at the age of 32. His early career include diverse roles such as assistant to the Management at Maffei Bank. He started his professional career within the hospitality industry in Hotels such as Kempinski Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten, Munich and the Hyde Park Hotel, London; an experience that contributed strongly in building Matthias’ vision of excellence in customer service.
